Okuribito (入殓师) is a Japanese drama film about a mortician, premiering in theaters on September 13, 2008, starring strong actors Masahiro Motoki, Nobu Yamazaki and Ryoko Hiromi, and directed by renowned director Yojiro Takita. The movie is cut from the perspective of a novice mortician who observes various kinds of deaths, thus interpreting the true meaning of life. The Embalmer was awarded the Grand Prix at the 32nd Montreal International Film Festival and the Best Foreign Language Film at the 81st Academy Awards.
