PayPal (branded as PayPal in mainland China), is an Internet service provider founded by Peter Thiel and Max Levchin in December 1998 and headquartered in San Jose, California, USA. Unlike traditional methods such as mailing checks and money transfers, it allows funds to be transferred between users identified by e-mail. It has partnered with a number of e-commerce sites to become the dominant online payment method today.
