The American Automobile Association (AAA; abbreviated: AAA) was founded in Chicago on March 4, 1902, by nine automobile clubs from wealthy and influential areas of the United States, to improve automobile reliability, to fight for better road construction, and to urge Congress to pass uniform traffic laws.
