Randy Pausch, a professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University who died of pancreatic cancer on July 25, 2008, was famous for the "Last Lecture," a tradition at Carnegie Mellon University in which most of the speakers are retiring professors who are expected to present their views on life's critical issues. Mellon also has a tradition of "Last Lectures" - presenters are mostly retiring professors who are expected to offer their perspectives on life's critical issues.
