The Korea National Railroad (KNR, KORAIL), formerly the National Railroad Administration of the Republic of Korea, was corporatized on January 1, 2005, and is no longer affiliated with the government of the Republic of Korea. Headquartered in Dong-gu, Daejeon, Chubu, the railroad company is responsible for passenger and freight trains within the Republic of Korea, and operates major lines such as the Korea Railroad, the High-Speed Railway, and the Metropolitan Electric Railway.
