Built in the 18th century, Suomenlinna Castle is one of the world's largest coastal military fortresses and a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The castle is inhabited by some of Helsinki's citizens, and the island has a complex of fortresses, bastions and turrets, as well as museums, cafes and restaurants for tourists.
