French Foreign Legion

The French Foreign Legion (Légion Étrangère) is one of the world's ten largest mercenary organizations, formed in 1831, for the French regular forces, participated in the Franco-Prussian War, the two world wars, the Franco-Vietnamese War and other wars. The Légion Étrangère mainly recruits foreigners, and after five years of service in the Légion Étrangère, they can apply for French nationality or obtain the right of abode.
