The site was founded in 1998 by Marshall Bryan, a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University in the United States. The site provides reliable, unbiased and easy-to-understand explanations of how everything in the world works, similar to China's "Hundred Thousand Reasons".
