KPMG is one of the top four accounting firms in the world (Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers and RSM McGladrey are the other three), and is also a professional accounting organization with a fairly long history in Switzerland, which mainly provides auditing, tax and consulting services to companies all over the world. KPMG originated from the accounting firm founded by William Barclay Pitt in London in 1870; it was later merged by William Barclay Pitt & Co. and Marwick Mitchell & Co. in 1911 to become the current KPMG. The firm's administrative headquarters are in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
